If you are deep into music/video editing and is sick of all the CES excitement and all the new (some meaningless) gadgets popping up all over the place, here is something to look out for. Rain Computers will be showing-off 2 new audio/video units (and possibly more) at the NAMM Trade Show, which will be held in the next 5-days (January 14-17). The two new products to look out for is the Quad-Core LiveBook Studio and the ION Studio Workstation.

Quad-Core LiveBook Studio – the most powerful LiveBook ever.

The evolution of mobile audio+video production continues with the Quad-Core LiveBook Studio. Intel “Nehalem” Core i7 technology combines with Rain’s Quiet Cool design to create the ultimate mobile audio/video platform that goes where you go. The LiveBook carries Intel’ new “Nehlem” Core i7 Quad-Core processor pushing a speed of 2.0GHz, up to 8GB 1333MHz DDR3 SDRAM, and up to 500GB storage on high performance hard drive.

Audio+Video = LiveBook Studio. LiveBook Studio does more than music. With a new NVIDIA GTS 250M discrete graphics card pushing an unbelievable 1GB of video memory to your ultra hi res widescreen LCD display, video is always an option.

A body built for just one thing. Sleek, laser etched aluminum surrounds the new LiveBook Studio. Beautiful and sophisticated, it let’s the heat dissipate, keeps things light, and protects the valuable contents within. Oh, and it’s good for the planet too.

ION Studio Workstation a force to be reckoned with.

ION Studio is a next generation, rackmount audio+video workstation designed to turn the sights and sounds from your imagination into reality. Quiet Cool™ Design and high expandability combine to create a finely tuned instrument to empower your creativity. Inside ION Studio is the same Intel i7 processor as the LiveBook Studio; it supports up to 16GB of DDR3 RAM and whatever video card configuration you wish to throw at it. As for storage, it can support up to 6TB of high performance storage, just to see what its like a computer can keep up with your creativity. Did I mentioned that it run on Windows OS?

With that much performance you’ll probably worry about overheating but Rain Computers got that all covered. A laser etched, aluminum chassis is part of the Quiet Cool Design engineered to deliver a balance of performance and stability. An array of PCIe and PCI slots gives you space for your UAD, Pro Tools and video capture cards. Five FireWire ports on a TI chipset provide maximum compatibility with your audio and video hardware. Stream data to your external hard drives at up to 3Gb/s and hook up a gaggle peripherals through 12 USB 2.0 ports.
